Apple iPhone 6: Specs, Price And Release Date

After months of rumors and leaks, Apple has finally unveiled their new iPhones. There are two of them as expected. The smallest among the new devices is the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Here is a look at what the new handset is all about.

The iPhone 6 is not boxy as its predecessor but features rounded edges and, at 6.9mm, is significantly thinner than other iPhones. The new phone is coming with an all anodized aluminum case with ion-strengthened glass. The design will remind you of the iPad Air and iPad Mini. The iPhone 6 also comes with an embedded Apple logo on the back, similar to the iPad. Altogether, it’s very pretty!

The new devices are coming with what Apple is calling Retina HD. According to the company, the 4.7-inch display will come equipped with 38-percent more pixels. What that means is that you will be getting beautiful pictures on that screen. There’s also an improved polarizer and very thin backlight.

The iPhone 6 will be powered by the new A8 chip, which apparently will be 50% faster than the A7. There will be an upgraded motion coprocessor, called M8. It will deal with all accelerometer tasks and will also estimate distance (even flights of stairs). And your new device will also let you collect atmospheric data as it features a barometer.

The new device is coming with an 8MP iSight camera. There’s a better sensor, and there’s phase detection tech called Focus Pixels. It basically will make autofocus easier. And you will be able to take panoramas (as large as 43-megapixels) using the new shooter. The device features digital image stabilization. You will be able to record 1080p video (30-fps or 60-fps), and you can even try slow motion (120-fps or 240-fps). There’s an upgraded FaceTime HD front cam. Now, 80% more light will make it through it’s new aperture. The front cam also features burst mode.

The device features an upgraded LTE modem that comes with support for up to 20 LTE bands. There will be support for VoLTE, and there’s 802.11ac Wi-Fi that’s three times faster than the previous version. VoLTE will allow you to make calls over Wi-Fi with cellular connection.

The iPhone 6 will ship on the 19th of September. The 16GB version will cost $199, the 64GB model comes with a price tag of $299, and the 128GB version will be yours for $399. Those prices, of course, will require you to get into a two-year contract.
