Teasers Point Toward October 28 for Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat


Give me a break. Give me a break. Break me of a piece of that Android 4.4 and Nexus 5 bar-style smartphone goodness. I think I got that right.

All indicators are pointing toward the official unveiling of Android 4.4 KitKat and the new Nexus 5 smartphone this month, but we haven’t been able to nail them down to a specific date as of yet. Rumors pointed toward October 18, but that’s in two days and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Instead, October 28 has become the more likely candidate and the teasers are in line with this.

If you check the @KitKat Twitter account, you’ll notice that they have dropped two heavy hints on when we should be getting Android 4.4 KitKat. The first teaser makes mention of “Everybody dance now!” You might remember the song Gonna Make You Sweat by C+C Music Factory from the early 1990s. The band was originally called The 28th Street Crew.

More recently, the same @KitKat Twitter account posted the “This Is It” image seen above. This might make reference to the Michael Jackson documentary, which was released on October 28, 2009. We could be reading way too much into this, but October 28 would also be in line with last year’s Nexus 4 unveiling. That was on October 29.
