Addonics Technologies has announced availability of their latest NAS 2.0 adapter. The adapter is a second generation model, Addonics wanted to push the output attainable on your USB 2.0 devices, making transfer rates of 15-20 MBps possible when linked to a Gigabit network.

Support for both SMB (Server Message Block) and open source Samba network protocols is added. Cross-platform access of all shared data for most versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and various Linux distributions. Remote users who are not connected over a LAN, the NAS 2.0 Adapter can let them in with FTP, eight simultaneous users can login to this feature anywhere an Internet connection is.

Best of all, the adapter can be used as a bit-torrent downloading appliance for direct download to an attached USB storage device.

With two high speed USB 2.0 ports; one for connecting USB 2.0 / 1.1 mass storage devices and one for connecting USB printer to share over a network this latest gadget from Addonics looks promising.

The possibilities are endless, it can even be setup as an UPnP AV server to share photo/music files stored on the file server with XBOX 360 video game consoles connected to the LAN.
