With the iPhone’s App Store, you have the opportunity to browse through the catalog either on your phone or on your computer through iTunes. Up until now, the only way that you could look at the available apps for the BlackBerry was on your BlackBerry. Not anymore!
It may have taken Research in Motion a little longer than we would have liked, but the BlackBerry App World is now available through a standard Internet connection on any Internet connected device. While hanging out at the Starbucks, you can use the Wi-Fi to look for new apps on your netbook, for instance.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that the online component of the BlackBerry App World is for window shoppers only. You can use the website to look at featured items, top downloads, top free, top paid, and newest applications, but you can’t actually download them or purchase them. To do that, you’ll still need to go back to your phone.
Thankfully, if you do happen to find something while browsing through the virtual shop on your computer, you can click a link that will then e-mail a message to your phone to purchase the app. This way, you don’t have to find it again on your phone. This is similar to what you find with the Ovi Store for Nokia devices.
