Personally, I’m a bigger fan of more compact notebooks, but there is a definite demographic out there who are interested in desktop-replacing laptops. For that crowd, MSI has introduced a new batch of Classic C Series notebooks. These have cinema-ready displays that will happily fit in your bag.
There are five new additions to the line. The CX600, CX700, CR600-013, CR600-017, and the CR700. The 600 models feature 16-inch displays and they tip the scales at a fairly reasonable 5.4 pounds. They’ve also kept the package reasonably thin at 1.18 inches. That’s about 20% thinner than the average 16-incher.The 700 models go even beigger with 17.3-inch displays and just over six pounds of weight.
With all of these MSI C-Series notebooks, you get 16:9 wide aspect displays that are perfect for watching movies and other videos. This way, you don’t get that letterbox effect when watching DVDs.
Other features include 320GB SATA hard drives, 4GB DDR2 MAX RAM, Super Multi drive, and Pentium Dual Core processors. The CX series gets ATi Mobility Radeon HD4330 graphics, whereas the CR series gets GeForce 8200 M G graphics. The rest of the specs are listed below. Pricing starts at $549.99.
