MSI Sez: Eee PC 1000HE Not Only Netbook with Lots of Battery

One of the biggest selling points for the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook is that it is able to offer an incredible 9.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. Not to be outdone, MSI has a netbook that can offer a similar level of mobile computing without having to search for a wall outlet.

The upcoming MSI Wind U110 “ECO” netbook will come with much the same specs as the rest of the Wind line of netbooks, so if you’ve ever played with the MSI Wind U100, you’ll feel right at home with the U110.

Among the noted specs are the Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 10-inch 1024×600 display, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, integrated Wi-Fi, and so on. The platform is slightly different though, as the MSI Wind U110 utilizes an Intel Atom Z530 (Menlow) rather than the N270 or N280. You also get an ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics chip.

The kicker here, of course, is the battery life. Opting for the slightly larger six-cell battery, MSI claims that the Wind U110 will keep you going for up to nine hours at a time. The netbook tips the scales at under three pounds with the six-cell, but you can bring that down to 2.2 pounds with the three-cell battery. The netbook is also only 1.3-inches thick.

More information can be found on MSI’s website, but they make no mention of pricing or a release date.
