When I was a kid, I had a wallet made with some sort canvas material and it closed up using some Velcro. As I got a little older, I graduated to leather wallets and haven’t ever considered buying a wallet made of any other kind of material. Maybe I should rethink that philosophy.

If you’re not inclined to take the money clip route, want to stick with a regular wallet, but want a bit of a change, you may want to check out these interesting alternatives. You don’t have to kill a cow to hold your cash and credit cards.

At Hammacher Schlemmer, they have the world’s only stainless steel wallet. Although this may sound heavy and rigid, the wallet is actually “as smooth as silk” thanks to the 25,000 stainless steel threads that are “three times thinner than a piece of paper.” These woven threads produce strength that surpasses leather without being impervious to stretching or straining. It even passively resists RFID hacking. Retail price is $89.95.

Do you have a carbon fiber hood on your car? Do you have sports equipment that makes use of carbon fiber? Continue with that theme by picking up a carbon fiber wallet. While the wallet also uses leather, the carbon fiber on the outside is a total fashion statement and it may help to provide a little more protection for your cards. I just hope it doesn’t make my money “go” any faster. It’s currently on sale for $49.95. See it in the video below.
