First Look at Nokia 5730 XpressMusic with Slide-Out QWERTY

Even though many people aren’t terribly interested in smartphones just yet, there is an increasing interest in messaging phones with full QWERTY keyboards. Following this trend is the unannounced Nokia 5730 XpressMusic.

The guys in Finland haven’t made any formal revealing of this handset just yet, but from what we can see, this is clearly a messaging-centric handset that will bode well for people who like to fire off emails and engage in instant messaging conversations. Text message enthusiasts will dig this too.

The candybar handset takes on a conventional portrait-oriented display and standard numeric keypad when you need it for regular voice calls and other regular things. When it comes time to send a text or surf the web, you can slide that full QWERTY keyboard out of the left-hand side. The keyboard does appear to be quite flush, which can be a good or a bad thing.

Aside from the keyboard, critical features on this phone include S60 3rd Edition FP2, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, dedicated music playback keys, WiFi, GPS, and a 1000mAh battery.

Bear in mind that this is still a rumored phone at this point, but I’m thinking that Nokia can score quite a winner with the 5730 XpressMusic, competing well against other QWERTY-equipped consumer-minded phones in the marketplace.
