While they may not be able to get their hands on the BlackBerry Bold just yet, AT&T subscribers will be able to download the new BlackBerry 4.5 firmware this month. The updated operating system will work on a number of existing devices, including the BlackBerry 8820, Curve 8310, Pearl 8120, and Curve 8300.
The upgrades that accompany this firmware update include HTML email and formatting, remote server search, free/busy calendar lookup, video recording, an improved media player, and Office document editing on the fly. The email app gets a better UI and web browser is more “desktop-like” with zoom and a cursor.
No exact date has been announced, but we’re looking at a mid-September launch of the BlackBerry OS 4.5 for AT&T users. All devices shipping after mid-October will come preloaded with the new OS.
