It’s pretty clear that Toshiba knows a thing or two when it comes to computer gaming, so when they announce a trio of new Qosmio notebooks, the world is going to notice. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about this unveiling is that all three laptops are very different from one another.
The F55 is probably the most affordable Qosmio to date, starting at just $1,150. It gets a 15.4-inch display and built-in GPS, as well as Garmin navigation and mapping software. Bump that up to the $1,750 config and you get some decent gaming spec too.
Apparently finding itself among the console gamers is the Toshiba Qosmio G55. Along with the monstrous 18.4-inch display, the G55 also has gesture-based gaming controls and the Cell chip (PS3). The motion controls are more like the EyeToy than they are like the Wii. Pricing ranges from $1,300 to $1,500.
Rounding out the troupe is the Qosmio X305. This gaming laptop is a 17-incher and you get the option to load an overclocked Core 2 Extreme processor, WSXGA resolution display, and twin 7200rpm hard drives. Retail versions go for $1,550 but the beefier models can cost as much as $3,500.
