I know what you’re thinking. Other people have already developing VoIP applications for the iPhone and the iPod touch, but Fring is being marketed as the first true iPhone VoIP app. You see, those other programs — like Jah Jah — get you to connect to their analog to VoIP bridge before you can do the VoIP thing. Fring doesn’t need that.
With Fring, all you need is a jailbroken iPhone (naturally) and a Wi-Fi connection. From there, you’ll be able to make voice calls either through Skype or SIP. In both instances, the only charges you incur would be the same as if you made a SkypeOut or SIP call from your computer.
Along with the VoIP side of things, Fring also offers integrated instant messaging through Google, ICQ (who uses that anymore?), MSN, AIM, Yahoo, and even Twitter (follow me).
