There’s something to be said about a hot sports car with rear-wheel-drive and a beefy engine to thrust that thing forward. You may have heard that Ford could be moving its RWD operations from the States to Australia, but what we have here are a couple of Falcons outside of Detroit.
Spy photographers, bless their hearts, have spotted a pair of Ford Falcon prototypes being tested just outside of Detroit and, as can be expected, they’ve been covered in all sorts of camouflage. This could point toward a US-spec Falcon in the near future, but it could also be a version based on the car that’s actually built in Australia. This model is designed to compete against the Pontiac G8.
The rear-wheel-drive platform will likely serve as the basis fore the next-generation Ford Mustang as well as the replacement for the Ford Crown Victoria. It’s also possible that they’ll use the platform for a Lincoln model as well. Hop on over to the left lane to see the rest of the spy pics.
