We know that Tata Motors’ acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover is pretty much a done deal, but it turns out that Tata isn’t quite done with its aggressive entry into the worldwide car market. Word on the street is that Fiat wants to partner up with Tata on several fronts, including the possibility of co-producing a number of premium real-wheel-drive vehicles.

More specifically, Fiat wants to make friends with the Jaguar side of things so that they can work on some new Alfa Romeo models. Furthermore, this partnership could extend to getting a share of some of the same dealerships. This would ease the entry of the Alfa Romeo brand back into the United States. This is certainly a lot easy than trying to start a new dealer network from scratch.

“I think I would be more than pleased to collaborate with Tata in terms of Jaguar/ Range Rover, if in fact it ends up being owned by them,” Sergio Marchionne, Fiat’s chief executive, told the Financial Times.
