Apricorn, the company with a mutant fruit-vegetable hybrid name, has announced a new hardware encrypted hard drive that they have called the Aegis Vault. The latest entry to the Aegis product suite is a 2.5 inch, bus-powered drive with AES-128 bit hardware encryption. It has an encrypted partition that can only be accessed with an authenticated password. It can be configured with multiple public partitions for data sharing, and features an administrator password for corporate applications. You can access the encrypted partition without having to install any special software on your computer. That means you can use it on any Windows based computer.
The Aegis Vault features robust 16-point omni-directional shock mounting, so you could probably juggle this baby without harming your data (though I am not advocating that you do that). It comes in 80GB, 120GB, 160GB and 250GB sizes, and comes with a three year warranty. Prices range from $139 to $269.
