HSPA Launched by Rogers in Over 20 Canadian Cities

Rogers Wireless has been testing the waters with HSDPA for a little while now in Ontario, but they are now ready for a larger launch of their High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network in over 20 major metropolitan areas across the country. This rollout represents the fastest wireless network in Canada, toppling the EVDO network currently offered by Telus Mobility.

They say that this 3G protocol will provide consumers with wireless download speeds “similar to broadband high-speed services.” The Rogers Vision suite of high-speed services will be available on a number of HSPA-enabled handsets, including the Samsung A706, LG TU500, LG Shine Slider, Motorola Q9H, Palm Treo 750, and HTC TyTN.

The expansion of Rogers Vision today includes service for customers in Greater Vancouver, Kelowna, Victoria, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Ottawa/Gatineau, Kingston, Sudbury, Barrie, London, Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph, Windsor, Greater Montreal, Quebec City, Chicoutimi and Trois-Rivières.
