Verizon Wireless is claiming that they are the first provider in the country to allow customers to “record video with their wireless phones and upload the videos directly to YouTube.” Well, that’s not the whole statement. While they’re not exactly the first to let you upload videos to YouTube on the go, Verizon goes on to say that they are the first to let you do it “using an easy to remember number – YTUBE (98823), which is the shortcode for uploading videos to YouTube.”
No more having to fumble your way through some messy web interface. After going into your YouTube account and updating it with your cell phone number, all it takes is entering that shortcode to get your videos live on the world wide web. Uploads should be fairly expedient, thanks to Verizon’s wireless broadband network, but “standard messaging rates apply.”
In addition to uploading, you can also view YouTube videos on your V CAST-enabled phone as well. It costs three bucks for 24-hour access or $15 for a monthly subscription.
