And I thought this whole flaming laptop fiasco was done and over with. Acer America has issued a voluntary recall on several of their notebook computers, due of the possible risk of fire from the Sony-made batteries found within. Yes, it seems like Sony is to blame yet once again, just as they were for the original Dell recall back in August of last year.
According to the statement released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (in cooperation with Acer), consumers are advised to “only use the notebook computer using AC power until a replacement battery pack is received.” This recall involves about 27,000 units. Affected models include both those in the TravelMate and Aspire range.
