As if drivers on the road didn’t have enough distractions already, Anna Lopez has designed a laptop that is meant to be mounted on the steering wheel of your car. This way, you can finish off that last minute report on your way to work… but what about that whole thing about “eyes on the road”? If you’ve got your head buried in the LCD monitor, frantically bashing away at the on-screen keys with the deadline looming overhead, aren’t you, uh, not paying attention to the road?
I’m sure that the designer means well and that the intention is to use this laptop only when you’re pulled over on the side of the road, at a pit stop, or parked in a parking lot someplace, but it wouldn’t take much for some genius to start doing some mobile MSN messenging while barreling down the Interstate. Another reason to fear public roads.
