Shortly after purchasing a 1GB Kingston microSD card the other day for my newly acquired cell phone, I thought I lost the darn thing because it’s only about the size of a fingernail. It’s pretty easy to misplace, but it also saves plenty of hardware real estate on the devices that take it. When it comes time to loading up a microSD, you usually need to plunk it into a standard-size SD adapter first. That is not the case with this new card reader from Buffalo.
Designed specifically for the smaller-than-small microSD format, the Buffalo card reader is about the same size as the smallest-of-the-small USB Flash drives out there. In fact, as it measures just 39x20x7mm, it’s smaller than the already tiny USB Bluetooth dongle I have. The saving grace is that you can plug the microSD card directly into it, making full use of the highest data transfer rate possible. Available in black, white, and gray at an undetermined price.
