Cingular’s push-to-talk service may be asking for a little too much commitment from the average user, it seems, because the mobile operator that is slowly becoming the new AT&T has decided to give you a new option for mobile walkie-talkie speak. Cingular/AT&T will now be offering push-to-talk on their network on a pay-per-use basis, meaning that you won’t necessarily have to fork out 10 bucks a month every month. Instead, you can keep yourself to just 15 cents per minute of PTT, and if you find yourself chatting a little too much, you can hop on over to a standard phone call without too much difficulty. Because you’ve got plenty of those minutes to go around too, right?
Naturally, you’ll be able to look up “availablility status” of your friends and family, just like before, as well as getting floored with call-me alerts, contact alerts, and quick group calling. Too many dashes? How about some circles and dots instead?
