The people of Japan are about to get yet another toy courtesy of KDDI, while I’m still stuck with a cell phone that can’t even play video. The Sanyo W51SA is being marketed specifically as a TV phone, but that really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given that this slider phone has got a huge antenna sticking out of its side. You may have to squint just a bit to enjoy your favorite TV programming, however, as the color screen is merely a 2.6-incher, though it is a IPS liquid crystal display “for crisp display of television, videos, and photos.”
To be available in glass green, ivory white, and modern black, the Sanyo W51SA TV Phone for KDDI comes with 1GB of storage (not sure whether that’s on-board or via a memory card slot), is compatible with the LISMO service, and apparently packs in an FM transmitter so you can share those tunes (and the sound accompanying your vids) with those around you. Pretty sweet from our point of view, almost run of the mill for Japan.
