Information theft has become a very pressing issue in our society. This is especially true when it comes to doing business online, as it doesn’t seem all that difficult for a hacker to steal your credit card number and password. Next thing you know, your statement says you purchased a $4,000 laptop from Best Buy.

SanDisk is working to up the ante when it comes to data security, having now developed what they call “TrustedSignins”, an authentication system that protects against online fraud. The system is two-fold. First, it makes use of “something you know”,like a password, and then it couples it with “something you have”, like a SanDisk thumb drive. In this way, your portable storage device doubles as a key for when you go to VeriSign-powered e-commerce site.
