On the desktop side of things, we’re getting ourselves all ready for an official switch over from XP to Vista, and it seems that the mobile side of things is gearing up for a similar transition. The successor to Windows Mobile 5.0 — probably named WM6 — is in the works and could be ready for manufacturers by the end of this year, placing the new OS in new devices for Q1/Q2 2007. Just as WM5 has several similarities to XP, WM6 (codenamed Crossbow) will have Vista-esque elements, like the folder browser, folder icons, and integration with Office 2007, Exchange 12, and Office Communicator.
