While picking up a $172 personal media player sounds very attractive, particularly when it has such a pretty-looking screen to watch all of your videos on, it is a little disappointing to find so little memory on board.

Thomson, based out of China, gets you to take a second glance at their PMP2516 when you see that it sports a 2.5-inch TFT display, TV-out, USB 2.0 connectivity, line-in recording, an electronic dictionary, and love for a variety of audio and video formats (MPEG-4, ASF, MP3, WMA, etc.), but then you get to the part about on-board memory and find just a single gig. Sorry, Thomson, 1GB just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore, especially when there’s no mention of an expansion slot.
