Designed for multimedia performance: Hitachi PN39K1S laptop

Let’s face it: you’re not buying a computer for productivity reasons. You want to be entertained, even while on the road, and that’s why you want a laptop with the best multimedia performance out there. That laptop just might be the Hitachi PN39K1S.

Also dubbed the PriusNote type K, this notebook was designed with your entertainment pleasure in mind. Boasting a “super bright” 15.4-inch WXGA display and a DVD Super-Multi drive, watching movies on the go is a joy, especially with the 3W subwoofer providing a cinematic “boom”. There is also a built-in digital TV tuner, as well as DVR capabilities.

The guts of the machine are quite impressive as well, with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) running the show, backed up by a full gig of DDR2 SDRAM and a 120GB hard drive. They make no mention of the OS, but I expect that many customers would be inclined to go for Windows Media Center.

Weighing in at 6.3 pounds and measuring 365 x 265 x 32.8 – 35.3mm, the Hitachi PN39K1S will sell for US$2,236 when it starts shipping on October 26.
