I live about as far away from American hurricane country as I can without living on a different continent. If I did live in the strike zone, though, I would want to know exactly what was headed my way and when it was coming. A company called Digital Cyclone wants to help. They create software called My-Cast, which is a weather service for your mobile phone. With version 5.0, they have added the ability to track hurricanes and tropical storms.
Besides letting you know when you might want to get away from home for a while, the My-Cast service offers in-depth weather information, including NEXRAD radar loops for weather, images from infrared satellites, forecasts for everything from the next hour to a week from now, and information like cloud movement, precipitation and temperature. The hurricane tracking provides an extra level of safety and, I would guess, peace of mind.
