Sprint slices and dices with Sanyo 6600 Katana

Motorola RAZR, eat your heart out! Okay, so the Sanyo 6600 may not have garnered the same amount of attention as its slick Moto relation, but that doesn’t mean that the offering available from Sprint should be completely ignored. After all, who wouldn’t want to have a handset known as the “Katana”?

We first heard about this phone earlier this year, but the blurry shaky-hands snapshot just didn’t do it for me. That’s why it’s nice to finally see some slick promotional shots of the Sanyo 6600 Katana, even if it is clad in a somewhat tacky-looking blue.

It’s a bit of a shame that they’ve cheaped out on the camera, merely shoving a VGA picture-taker in the thing. They’ve also decided to cast EV-DO capabilities aside, so the only safe conclusion is that we’ll be seeing some updates down the road with better cameras, better data, and other nifty features. Maybe a 6600x, 6600i, 6600m the list goes on.

No word on pricing or availability, but with clearer photographs, we can at least think that Sprint is closer to dicing up the competition with the Katana.
