Remember some time back when we heard about vending machines popping up at the Las Vegas Hilton and at airports across the country that sold empty iPods? Well, it seems that they just might start to at least make a little bit of sense, because the companies that develop in flight entertainment systems for airlines are pushing to include iPod docks complete with iTunes hookups on your next flight across the country.
Nothing is set in stone just yet, as the discussions with Apple are still ongoing, but as it stands, you’ll be able to slip your glossy white music player into the dock housed in the seatback — right next to your meal tray, I suppose — and buy extra content using your frequent flyer miles and whatnot. Who knows, maybe some airlines will start offering a free song or two to encourage you to fly with them and to apologize for the bad food.
When and if this will ever happen is still up in the air (no pun intended) as “Apple never talks about the future.”
