The war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray technology is far from dying down, as both formats have some pretty heavy hitters in their respective corners. A set of new Vaio notebook computers from Sony will come with Blu-Ray optical drives starting this June, and Toshiba is launching the Qosmio G30 laptop in April with a built-in HD-DVD drive.
It seems that Acer wants to be a part of the picture as well, and has jumped into the HD-DVD camp – at least for now – with word that the company will be selling a notebook computer featuring that format’s drive.
I’m not sure how official this tidbit of news is, however, as it didn’t come straight from the horse’s mouth, and as such, the electronics manufacturer hasn’t released any further information about its HD-DVD laptop yet. So, we’ll just have to wait and see until they decide to tell us… or if the deets leak, which is usually the case.
