An innovation from NEC gives new meaning to the phrase “face time.”
This time clock literally logs your face as you check in or out, matching your face to the graphic pattern saved in the machine’s software and noting the exact time you entered or departed, down to the nanosecond. No more getting someone to punch the time card for you. Certain companies have also installed it in the locker room, restricting access to nonwork clothes.
The device isn’t supposed to be a big hit outside its primary market, which is Japan and a few other Asian companies. The American and European continents, for example, probably won’t be flooded with these devices. Certain business owners, however, will want to keep track of their employees’ work hours as best they can. This device is for them.
