PSP owners rejoice, for more memory is on the way. Sony has announced that their MemoryStick Duo cards will be available in both 4GB and 8GB sizes sometime this year. The announcement was made last week at CES, along with 10,000 others. This will be great news for PSP users, since there is all sorts of content out there and more storage capacity is obviously better. It will also be good news for Sony digital camera users, especially if they are particularly click-happy. There is no word yet on what they will cost.
This announcement does send a bit of a mixed message on the future of the MemoryStick. On one hand they are improving the card to meet market demands. On the other hand they have put SD card slots in the latest version of their Vaio notebooks, perhaps signaling that they are waning in their love for their own MemoryStick format.
