AMD aims for a 10 foot experience


AMD announced its intention to extend its AMD LIVE! brand to multi-media desktop and notebook PCs. They intend to use AMD LIVE! to connect, store, distribute and access digital media in many rooms throughout a home and extend these capabilities to the road. Utilizing AMD’s Athlon(tm) 64 [email protected] dual-core processors for desktop and dual-core processors for notebooks, AMD wants to build on its successful use of Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and extend it to the upcoming Microsoft Vista operating system.

Using AMD LIVE! will transform consumer experience from the “2 foot” to a “10 foot” one on AMD LIVE! branded PCs by extending their PC to stream music on their entertainment center, burn recorded shows, videos and pictures to CD or DVD and share the same on TVs throughout the home. In addition, consumer will be able to transfer content to notebooks, PDAs and MP3 or portable media players.

In addition AMD has lined up support for AMD LIVE! from companies such as NVIDIA, Nero, VIA technologies, Sportvision, Broadcom, Motorola & ATI. This effort combines excellently with AMD’s collaboration with the creative community. Featured at AMD LIVE! promotes top professional film, broadcast and music artists who employ AMD64 technology.

Look for AMD to extend its PC solutions to complement devices accepted and used already.
