International CES, 2006 to be held in the first week of January in Las Vegas will have an attractive offering from Hop-on. The company has decided to unveil its new 1885 MP3 phone at this prestigious exhibition. This new handset on which the company has pinned high hopes, promises to bundle together high-quality features at a low cost and will be targeting mid-tier phone users in the US which comprise a sizeable number.

HOP 1885 has features which include a measurement of 95 x 43 x 18.5 mm in size and is a tri-band handset supporting 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz frequencies. It further boasts of a vibrant color screen and also offers SMS and MMS facilities. On an overall basis, the phone belongs to GPRS class 10 category. According to Dan Gannon, CEO, Hop-on, the company is trying to position this new handset as an alternative to costly MP3 phones. “We are excited to unveil our latest offering at CES. Our 1885 phone has all the features contained in top of the line candy bar style phones, but at a reasonable price. The domestic U.S. market expects to pay a considerable amount of money for a full-feature MP3 phone but we are trying to change that view. Our low overhead costs allow us to offer high-quality, high-functionality handsets at lower prices than the major players in our market, “He made an elaborative comment. The company is also looking at the phone as a powerful product to compete with major global players in its segment. Gannon added, “As a result of our size and supply chain flexibility our technology cycle is considerably faster than the incumbents. We are pleased to be a domestic company that has the ability to compete with the international arena on both price and quality.”
