As a concept, music phones are great. So many of them so far have been frustrating, though, because they have so little capacity that they are hardly worthwhile. You can only have a few songs to listen to, or you have to spend all your time switching songs in and out. I’m glad to see that some phones with real storage capacity are finally coming along. Take the Samsung i300, for instance. It has a 3GB HDD. That’s some worthwhile capacity.
The phone runs on the Windows Mobile platform and has Windows Media Player 10 for the tunes. It has dual stereo speakers, a scroll wheel and Bluetooth capabilities which is perfect for headphones.
The i300 also has a 1.3 megapixel camera. You have the option of using MicroSD cards to store your data as well.
This hefty phone has been available since last month, but only on the O2 network in the UK. There exclusivity ends at the end of the year, so hopefully we will see it in other places as well.
