Bluetooth triggered car alarm

I had my car stolen once. I don’t recommend it. If I had had the Auto-txt installed at that time, I may not have lost it, or at least I would have gotten it back faster. Built in the U.K. by Richmond Design and Marketing, the Auto-txt is a proactive theft detection system. It uses the Bluetooth on your phone or other device as a second key. If you are sitting in your car the system recognizes your phone and knows that it is you. If it is not you, an alarm will sound and you will be contacted. At all times the car is tracked by GPS, so recovery is easier if someone manages to take it.

When you leave the car it is automatically armed. That is the nice feature of this system – you don’t have to do anything. You are protected without even having to think about it.

The unit is available in the U.K. for a cost of about $485. If you want the extra frills, you can include a remote immobilization system for a total of $600. There is an additional subscription for the service which runs about $275 per year. No word on if and when it will cross the pond.

Either this system will stop someone from stealing your car, or someone will just steal your phone before they take your ride.
