Plantronics ships Bluetooth stereo headset

Wires are ugly. Thus, everyone wants wireless everything. Plantronics, recognizing this growing need in the marketplace, has launched their new Pulsar 590, a Bluetooth stereo headset for listening wirelessly to your favourite tunes, and with the simple push of a button, switching to mobile phone calls.

The universal Bluetooth audio adapter lets you listen wirelessly to any audio source with a standard headphone jack. Listen to your laptop’s music collection, CDs on your home stereo, or all those songs you got from iTunes on your Apple iPod… and when a phone call comes in on your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, press a button, and you’re on live with the other person on the line.

The omni-directional microphone ensures clean, clear communication. The pivoting ear cushions attached to the headband are comfortable and not totally ugly. The battery life could be better (12 hours of talk, 10 hours of listening), but the 33 foot range is more than adequate for most of your daily needs.

Included in the package are a desktop charging stand, AC charger, USB charging cable, travel case and in-flight cable, which enables you to turn off the Bluetooth radio, as required by most airlines. A Bluetooth adapter is also available, so you can connect to devices that don’t have Bluetooth stereo capabilities. Pick up the Pulsar 590 for $149, or drop an extra $50 to have the universal Bluetooth adapter as well.
