Like the Emmy broadcast isn’t long enough already! Now they are adding yet another category of awards, this time for original mobile content. The criteria are that the material must be less than 20 minutes in length and must not have appeared on TV.
Though the field of mobile content is very new, users are limited and an argument could convincingly be made that this Emmy is premature, there are still a lot of companies in action in the sector. Among the notables, News Corp. has given us the 24:Conspiracy serial, Pixar is making 6 animated films and MTV is offering Samurai Love God.
The mobile content Emmy’s will, rather bizarrely, be awarded during the Sports Emmys broadcast on May 1, 2006.
