HP Releases Biometric iPAQ and Mobile Printer


HP today expanded their iPAQ line of Pocket PCs and released a mobile printer. The HP iPAQ rx1950 and the HP iPAQ hx2000 series Pocket PCs are the latest enhanced handhelds from HP. They come equipped with Windows Mobile 5.0 OS, driver enhanced mobile communication, entertainment and productivity solutions.

The HP hx2790 is part of the hx2000 series, it offers biometric fingerprint sensor while the hx2490 and hx2190 offer strong data and device security with encryption.

One benefit of Windows Mobile 5.0 prevents the devices from losing installed applications and vital data even if the battery is drained or removed. Windows Media Player 10 comes pre-installed, it offers music, video and photo viewing from any of the HP iPAQs. An integrated personal information manager (PIM) gives users efficient access to emails, contacts, tasks, calendar and other related features.

The HP iPAQ rx1950 comes with integrated Wi-Fi, 33MB of memory, SD slot, removable Lithium-ion battery.

The HP iPAQ hx2000 series features enhanced data protection, biometric finger print reader (hx2790), and HP ProtectTools with data encryption. It gives you 144MB of user memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and dual SD and Compact Flash Type II expansion memory.

HP’s Deskjet 460 mobile printer offers both wireless and wire printing, with support from Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices. A rechargeable battery allows for 450 pages of printing per charge.
