NEC Launches the NEC L1 RAZR Killer

NEC has released a new RAZR killer ultra-thin clamshell mobile phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera. The NEC L1 slim phone, is the thinnest phone to date according to the research done by NEC.

The phone will be 11.9mm thick and will weigh 96 grams. (full dimensions 47.9mm X 101.5mm X 11.9mm). It will support GSM/GPRS and will house a 1.9-inch 65k color screen (176×220 pixels). The second screen is a organic light emitting display (OLED) that can scroll text messages. Other features include PictBridge, MP3, Java, Bluetooth, 64-poliphonic ring tones, and two minute movie shooting.

“This ultra-slim, clam-shell type mobile phone is a symbol of NEC’s leading position in the area of mobile technology,” said Susumu Otani, Associate Senior Vice President and head of Mobile Terminals Operations Unit at NEC Corporation. “We will continue to strive to offer the latest, most innovative and most attractive mobile terminal solutions on the market. Boasting compact shape and the latest technologies, our phones allow our customers to choose the right phone for their individual needs in all of our target markets across the globe.”

It will start out as a Hong Kong only phone but has plans to roll out in Italy, Russia, China and Australia. I wonder if it will ever make it to North America? It would sure fly well here.
