Ricoh has released info on their new Caplio R3 small form factor digital camera. The R3 will feature a huge 7.1x optical zoom lens (28–200 mm in 35 mm camera equivalent) with vibration reduction.
The sensor inside the R3 is a 5.13 megapixel sensor; thank goodness for those extra .13 megapixels, I wouldn’t know what to do without them. The camera body itself is quite small measuring at 95.0 mm (W) x 53.0 mm (H) x 26.0 mm (D), but it still manages to pack in a nice 2.5″ LCD screen on the back. Ricoh claims that the battery will last for around 310 shots.
The vibration reduction is definately a plus; you should get some great shots in low light. The sensor moves with the vibration allowing your shaky hand some leeway in any dark corners you may venture.
The Caplio R3 will be available near the end of September for an unknown price.
