D-Link introduces the D-Link MediaLounge DSM-320RD Wireless Media Player with DVD and Card Reader. Quite a mouthful huh? Wait, in addition to DVDs, it plays SVCD, VCD, CD-R, DVD±RW, CD-RW, CD, and MP3 discs too.
The MediaLounge enables you to wirelessly stream audio, images and videos from your computer to your television and stereo system. It utilizes 802.11g wireless technology, enabling the MediaLounge to stream media content at a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 54Mbps. If you wish to stream media content though a standard Ethernet connection, that option is available too.
D-Link’s new wireless DVD player comes with a built-in 5-in-1 card reader enabling users to easily view and share media content stored on a memory card. Simply connect the memory card into the card reader and your music, pictures and video files are instantly accessible. SD, Memory Stick, MMC, Compact Flash (Type I and II) and other popular memory cards are supported.
There’s a lot of music content that can be had from the MediaLounge too as D-Link has partnered with the likes of AOL, Live365, Napster, and Rhapsody. Speaking of AOL, D-Link also features its You’ve Got Pictures service, enabling AOL for Broadband subscribers to view image files on their TVs via the MediaLounge.
By the way, don’t worry about set-up. The MediaLounge is Windows compatible. Simply run the Wireless Network Setup Wizard from Windows XP Service Pack 2 and pass on the wireless settings to the DSM-320RD using a USB thumbdrive.
The MediaLounge is yours for about US $285.00.
