The MDA Pro, available now from T-Mobile Deutschland, combines innovative technology, optimal functionality and ultimate convenience in a small space. It retails at € 499.95 with a 24 month post-pay contract or at the Relax 100 rate of € 430.99 (net) with a contract.
The mobile communicator is one of the first mobile devices worldwide to integrate the three technologies W-LAN, UMTS and GPRS. Other features include a very large color screen, full keyboard and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.
With the MDA Pro, users can, for example, access the company network quickly or receive emails with large attachments via broadband connections to the T-Mobile network. It is an appropriate gadget for frequent users of T-Mobile’s web’n’walk. According to Martin Knauer, Director of Marketing, his offering is unmatchable in terms of versatility and convenience. The first model was introduced in 2002 and enjoys a market share of 40 per cent and a frontrunner for PDAs in Germany.
The device’s full keyboard makes entering emails easy, the large TFT screen (480 x 640 pixels, 65,000 colors) displays menus, texts, pictures and Internet sites in crystal-clear quality. The mini notebook turns into a touch screen pocket PC within seconds, making it ideal for use in airplanes. The MDA Pro is the first mobile device on the German market with the new Microsoft operating system Windows Mobile 5.0. It permanently saves all data stored on the MDA Pro – even if the battery is completely run down.
The new operating system offers comprehensive Office features. For easy synchronization with the PC, the package also includes the full version of Microsoft Outlook for PC. The MDA Pro has 43.5MB of available internal memory for storing data, photos, ringtones, etc, in addition to an expansion slot for an MMC/SD memory card, Bluetooth, infrared interface and USB support.
The MDA Pro’s two integrated cameras allow photos to be taken and video sequences to be recorded with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. Its “night mode” flash ensures correct exposure and can ultimately be transmitted through MMS. The second camera is used mainly for videocalls via T-Mobile’s UMTS network.
Availability of the MDA Pro will be in Germany beginning September 1.
