Konica Minolta is taking the digital imaging world for a spin today, first they announced their Maxxum 5D entry level digital SLR, now they announce their new high end ultra compact point and shoot, the DImage X1. The camera will feature an 8 megapixel sensor which includes the image stabilization that the 5D/7D incorporates on its sensor.
Other features include a large 2.5-inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom (37-11mm 35mm equivalent), and a 5cm macro mode. The camera will also record movies with sound at 640×480 @20 frames per second with optical zoom and anti-shake enabled. ISO’s include 50, 100, and 200 for low light situations. Also included in the package is a docking station for easy picture transfer and on top of that the camera is Pictbridge compatible. As for size and weight, the X1 will measure in at 95 x 68 x 19.5mm and weigh 135grams.
The DImage X1 will go on sale in September for a price of around US $520. There is also an optional underwater marine case available, but no word on the price for that.
