Second Walkman phone from Sony Ericsson, the W600

Second Walkman phone from Sony Ericsson, the W600

Sony Ericsson has announced their second phone in the Walkman line, the W600. The Triple-band (850/1800/1900 MHz) EDGE/GPRS W600 is jam packed with features sporting everything from a 1.3 megapixel camera to 256MB of user memory for all your media.

In my opinion, one of the major selling points of this phone will be the design. The phone has some sleek lines, flashy looking earphones, and a great color. The phone is a slider phone with a color 1.8-inch (176×220 pixel) TFT on the outside with a keypad that slides under the phone when not in use. Pretty flashy looking, but design isn’t everything; the phone has a ton of features.

True to the Walkman name, the phone features a MP3 player with 256MB of built in memory and MP3 software to play your MP3 and ACC format music. In addition to MP3’s the phone will also tune into radio frequencies. Also on the list of advanced features is Bluetooth technology, built in stereo speakers, and 3D Java games. The camera will feature a video recording function, 4x digital zoom, and LED flash.

For you gamers the phone will come with pre-installed mobile versions of 3D Worms Forts: Under Siege 3D, Extreme Air Snowboarding, and a new multiplayer version of Midway’s Gauntlet.

As for battery life, the W600 will play music for up to 15 hours with the phone on, or 30 hours with the phone in music mode.

The phone should hit streets in the fourth quarter of 2005.
