Nextel announced today they will have exclusive dibs on the new Motorola i605 push-to-talk phone which features a rugged design. The phone is aimed at users in different field situations such as construction, transportation, and outdoor workers with its rubberized shock, dust, and vibration resistant housing.
The i605 will also feature Bluetooth wireless, multimedia messaging service (MMS), group walkie-talkie up to 21 participants, and GPS functions including fleet tracking and turn-by-turn directions. The phone also has a voice recorder which can record phone calls or external audio. Another neat feature to note is the direct-send function that lets you send contact info to any user through a push of a button.
As for the phones hardware specs, the 262k color screen measures in at 2.2’ and is high contrast daylight viewable. To store all your info and applications, the phone comes with 32 MB of flash memory with 6MB available for user data. The battery life should last you 240 minutes talk time with around 290 standby. The phone weighs in at 5.9 ounces with a high-capacity battery and measures 4.9 (H) x 2.0 (W) x 1.1 (D) inches.
