Toshiba’s New Satellite M45 Notebook


Toshiba announced their new Sonoma Centrino based laptop today, the Toshiba Satellite M45. The laptop will also feature a built in Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g) card providing high speed wireless surfing.

The systems will be available in two different configurations; The M45-S331 with a 1.6GHz processor and the M45-S351 with a 1.73GHz processor. As for the video card, no new Radeon X700, they use an Intel based Graphics Media Accelerator 900 chipset. You can also specify either a 80GB HDD or a 100GB. Also, both models come with a standard of 512MB RAM with the ability to upgrade to 2GB.

Other Unique Features:

– Each laptop also comes with great built-in Harman/Kardon speakers for sweet sound.
– Wide angle screen (1280×800)
– Firewire Port IEEE 1394
– Bridge media adapter accepts SecureDigital(TM), Multimedia, MemoryStick, MemoryStick Pro and SmartMedia memory cards for quick transfer of digital files.

The systems are already available from Toshiba Direct and range from $1499.00 US for the low end 1.60GHz to $1729.00 for the 1.73 GHz with DVD Burner included.

The stylishly designed Toshiba Satellite M45 notebook series features a new sleek chassis design with a professional look and feel. Starting at 6.2 pounds(1), the notebook runs 14.2-inches wide, 10.5-inches deep, and features a wedge design 1.1 to 1.7-inches high. The Satellite M45 15.4-inch diagonal wide-aspect panel, with a 1280×800 TruBrite(TM) native resolution, provides vivid images for viewing DVD movies in their original wide-screen format and accomplishing productivity tasks. Toshiba’s DVD-SuperMulti drive reads and writes to most CD and DVD formats, while the Toshiba Express Media Player enables one button access to CD and DVD playback without booting the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating system.

An additional convenient feature of the Toshiba Satellite M45 is the bridge media adapter which can be used to quickly and easily move files such as digital photos or music files from a digital camera or MP3 player. The new M45 Series notebook PC is available with one-year or three-year limited warranty options offering free parts and labor and at-home service with Toshiba’s premier, global service for the mobile computing user.

Customers can choose from other service options, including carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country for same-day or next-day service, or utilizing any of more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized Depot for 24-hour service turnaround.

Toshiba also offers Ask Iris(R) Online, an instant response information service that can alert users to security software patches or provide other information regarding their product from Toshiba engineers and technical support staff.

The Toshiba Satellite M45 notebook series is expected to be available at consumer electronics, computer and office superstores nationwide, as well as online at
