Bell Canada is announcing their plans to roll out a full EVDO (Evolution, Data Optimized) network through out Canada. EVDO will deliver wireless network speeds of up to 2.4 mbps making high-speed internet available to homes and mobile professionals. Network trials have already begun in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and will continue to expand to major urban cities across Canada in 2005 and 2006.
“Wireless data presents the same tremendous growth potential today that wireless voice did almost 20 years ago” said Michael Neuman, President of Bell Mobility and Bell Distribution Inc. “EVDO puts CDMA ahead of other technologies in Canada. Its roll-out will mesh seamlessly onto our existing 1X network and will allow for a simple migration of our customers, ensuring Bell’s continued success in the wireless market.”
Bell will be showing the new EVDO technology on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at The Carlu, 444 Yonge Street, in Toronto.
