Why Wireless A+G for the Home?
Wireless A+G products provide an excellent infrastructure for home networks that plan to do more networking applications beyond Internet sharing, web surfing, email and printer sharing. When multiple users in the home are gaming, internet sharing, downloading music and streaming video, performance is most likely to take a hit, slowing down all the applications running. On an A+G network home users can take advantage of both the 802.11a – 5.0Ghz and 802.11g -2.4Ghz frequencies for all types of applications while limiting the amount of performance derogation.
The 802.11g mode is excellent to for file sharing, Internet sharing, downloading music and sharing photos while the 802.11a mode is best suited for multiplayer games and video streaming. The dual modes help users do what they want on their home network without having to worry about what will bog down network traffic.
“Offering wireless A+G products to the consumer market will enable home users to take advantage of the high speed modes that have been available for the business markets,” said, Malachy Moynihan, Linksys VP of engineering and product marketing. “Wireless technology is being integrated into more devices around the home requiring more bandwidth and less crowed frequencies. The A+G products provide home users with these capabilities that enable them to perform multiple applications simultaneously around the house such as video streaming, VoIP, gaming and Internet sharing.”
New Products Eliminate Confusion and Incompatibilities caused by Multiple Wireless Standards
With its universal Dual-Band A+G solutions, Linksys helps eliminates any potential confusion or incompatibilities caused by having three separate wireless standards. Like the world’s first AM/FM radio, the customer will be able to buy a single device for wireless networking that implements multiple IEEE standard compatibility. The Wireless A+G PC Card and Wireless PCI card will communicate with all current IEEE standardized products including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g solutions such as currently shipping Linksys Wireless-G and SpeedBooster products, as well as other A+G client cards and devices.
Notebook PCs Can Roam in any Wireless Network Installed Worldwide
For notebook users, Dual-Band Wireless A+G client devices can deliver seamless, trouble-free roaming across the myriad wireless infrastructures installed today. With a Linksys A+G PC Card, a notebook user can go from a 54Mbps 5GHz 802.11a network at work, to a 11Mbps 802.11b network in an airline club or coffee shop, to a 54Mbps 2.4GHz Wireless-G environment at home. This unparalleled convenience and flexibility can all be achieved with a single Wireless A+G PC Card solution.
