The original Honda NSX (we knew it as the Acura NSX) was probably one of the best known Japanese supercars of its era. The current reigning champion among Japanese muscle cars is the Nissan GT-R these days, but Honda is going to sit idly by as Nissan takes all the acclaim. Far from it.

Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has gone on the record to say that the next-generation Honda NSX will be faster around the legendary Nurburgring in Germany than the Nissan GT-R and the Lexus LF-A. As you know, Nurburgring lap times serve as a measuring stick for the fastest of the fast. And Honda wants to be faster.

We can't say for certain, but industry pundits are saying that the NSX will get powered by a 5.5L V10 good for 550 horsepower and 420 lbs-ft of torque. Instead of a standard transmission, it'll get an 8-speed auto with paddle shifters and an advanced version of Honda's SH-AWD system. The time to beat? 7:29.00.
