ACCESS announced today that its NetFront v3.1 browser software for Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC will be available December 22nd from popular download sites Handango.com and PocketGear.com. Also available will be versions to support Pocket PC 2002, including support for Pocket PC Phone Edition and for the original Pocket PC operating system, as well as free trial versions and distinct versions with Java support. Limited time discounts are available for all of the newly available versions of NetFront.
"Windows Mobile is growing fast, and we’re happy to complement its increasing popularity by releasing a Windows Mobile version of our NetFront browser," said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. "We’ve built special capabilities into NetFront for Windows Mobile, such as Smart-Fit Rendering™ and multi-window browsing, to give users a better mobile Internet browsing experience than is currently available on their platform."
NetFront v3.1 is the latest version of the most widely deployed and actively used embedded Web browser in the world. NetFront recently surpassed 100 million deployments globally and was selected as a "Best Software Awards 2003" finalist by Pocket PC Magazine. NetFront supports a wider range of operating systems than any competing browser. In addition to Pocket PC, ACCESS provides NetFront solutions for Palm® OS, Symbian OS, Linux OS, and mobile handset environments like BREW™.
NetFront v3.1 boasts many innovations that provide an unparalleled mobile Internet experience for end-users like Smart-Fit Rendering, a technology that intelligently renders Web pages to fit the narrow screen widths of mobile devices, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. NetFront v3.1 also includes new functions such as Auto-Cruise scheduling, Google and Yahoo! Internet search bars, ActiveX™ and multimedia plug-in support, in addition to the well received features specifically designed for PDAs, such as multi-window browsing, drag-scrolling, and off-line browsing. In addition, ACCESS is now making available a version of NetFront v3.1 for Pocket PC 2003 and Pocket PC 2002 that includes support for Personal Java™ (JV-Lite™2 Personal Edition), which supports Web applications that require Java.
For a limited time, users can download NetFront v3.1 for Pocket PC from Handango (www.handango.com) and PocketGear.com (www.pocketgear.com), LLC at steeply discounted prices. Users can also download time-limited trial versions for Pocket PC 2003 and Pocket PC 2002.
